Q Lawns Hits the Roof with Tuin at Glee

Q Lawns will be showcasing the use of Enviromat sedum matting for living green roofs in partnership with a new Company, Tuin, at this year's Glee show.

Green roofing on garden buildings seems to be becoming more and more popular as people are opting to use sheds, summer houses or log cabins to extend their living space without moving home or putting up a pricey extension. Q Lawns' Angela Lambert reports that sales of Enviromat sedum matting have reached record levels this year and, unlike other soft landscaping products, show no signs of slowing down.

Tuin has a range of attractively priced log cabins and garden buildings designed with green roofing in mind. The buildings need no re-inforcing to cope with the extra weight and already have suitable roof edgings. The complete range can be viewed at www.tuin.co.uk

The aesthetic and ecological benefits of a green roof are obvious but a living green roof will also help insulate a building against heat and cold and it will protect the waterproofing from the harmful effects of UV light, thus doubling its lifespan. Enviromat sedum matting is probably the quickest and easiest way to create a low maintenance living roof, provided that the building is strong enough to support the extra weight and is in a sunny spot.

Earlier this year, Q Lawns launched an installation guide for simple green roofs which will be available free of charge from stand C11 in hall 4 at Glee or by phoning Angela or Hannah on 01842 828266. An even more comprehensive guide to green roofing will be available on CD ROM this autumn.
