New survey finds grass is preferable to decking
A survey of 2,000 people carried out by lawn care specialists Green Thumb has revealed that one in five gardeners in Britain envies their neighbours garden but few would swap grass for decking.
David Collison, a manager at GreenThumb, said the trend for tearing up grass and laying decking had been sparked by TV makeover shows such as Ground Force, but the numbers of householders replacing wooden slats with grass was now at an all-time high because decking takes up too much space and grass looks better.
"It seems many people who have got rid of their decking dd so because they mised the pleasure of a lawn" said Collison.
